Historic touring cars feature in racing at the Vallelunga Classic

The Vallelunga Classic continues a tradition of historic racing by Peter Auto in Italy, with an event at the circuit in the hills near Rome.

Racing in Italy always provides a special emotion. Homeland of the best sports brands – Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lancia, Maserati … – authentic automobile jewel in the collective imagination. Earth of anthology circuits, Imola, Monza, Mugello, Pescara … – arenas of the finest mechanical games.

Italy is also the home of the tifosi, the unconditional supporters of the Scuderia Ferrari. These fans have all they need to go into raptures in the Monza Historic paddock in which “made in Maranello” prototypes and GTs can be seen including a Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta (1959), a Ferrari 512 S (1970), and a Ferrari 333 SP (1994). And the other Italian makes are not to be outshone with the presence of several Alfa Romeos, Bizzarrinis, De Tomasos, Iso Rivoltas, Maseratis, Lancias, Osellas and so on.

And finally the proximity of Roma adds an additional touch of charm to this event giving it a touristic and cultural dimension that encourages competitors to bring along their families.

Events

The Peter Auto grids are devoted to different periods of the history of motor sport and to different circuit racing cars: GTs, Sports cars, Prototypes and Touring cars from the 1950s to the 2000s.

The Austin SpeedTour features legendary Trans-Am, sportscars and GTs with drivers competing for coveted Bell Gold Helmets.

Circuit

Opened in 2012, Circuit of the Americas is the first modern purpose-built Grand Prix facility in the United States. Designed by Hermann Tilke, creator of many current Formula One tracks around the world, the 20-turn, 3.4-mile circuit climbs to a tight hairpin at the crest of a 133 foot incline. This dazzling Turn One is followed by a series of fast sweeping corners, hairpin turns and high-speed straightaways.

Austin SpeedTour is one of the most popular events on the SVRA season schedule, routinely drawing hundreds of vintage race cars of all types.

Join SVRA to farewell the vintage road race season at the So-Cal SpeedTour at Auto Club Speedway.

The So-Cal SpeedTour launches SVRA’s 2021 season. All SVRA classes are invited. Formula Ford is being celebrated as the Feature. This will be the first roval event of the Miata Heritage Cup Series’ 2021 season.

Circuit

Construction will soon transform this Penske-built Super Speedway and road course into a 1/2-mile short track, so this SVRA event will be the last vintage road race on the challenging 21-turn, 2.8-mile “roval” track. Vintage race cars, lots of track time and great racing at a world-class facility—it doesn’t get any better!
